As multi-generational Southern Californians with an adoration for San Diego's peerless natural beauty, ranging from it's charming valleys brimming with captivating wildlife to its striking mountain vistas offering unrivaled views of the setting sun, we welcome folks to experience this natural beauty alongside one of mankind's most gentle yet majestic companions, the humble yet noble horse. We offer event hosting (with a farmhouse chic vibe), horse boarding (coming soon), equine retirement care, and training. We also host agriculturally focused events, mounted archery practices, and cowboy challenge competitions. Trail exploration is a popular activity that includes bridle paths throughout our 87-acre facility, the historic route of the 1889 Flume Trail, and the untouched riparian habitats along the San Diego River bottom. Lastly, we support equine-assisted learning and therapies through Park Horse Project, a 501(c)3 located on the far west end of the property.
At River Oaks Ranch, we believe in a natural and sustainable approach to ranching. Our horses, donkeys, and goats are raised on natural pastures when possible, and we use only the highest quality feed and supplements. In addition to our exceptional horse boarding services, we take great pride in the maintenance of our pens, paddocks, and stalls, which also support our equine-assisted therapies. Furthermore, we host outdoor community events that allow everyone to connect with our animals and the ranching lifestyle.
On Saturday, December 21st from 10:00-1:00, River Oaks Ranch transforms into Santa's Ranch, filled with elves and other Christmas creatures! Our location offers a delightful brunch prepared by the Ranch Chef, while animal elves showcase Santa's favorite donkeys, goats, tortoises, piggies, and horses. This family-friendly event includes crafts, Cowboy Christmas Tales, and shopping, making it a memorable experience for everyone. For just $25 per person for ages 2 and up (free for those under 2), guests can enjoy outdoor community events that highlight our equine-assisted therapies. Those aged 21 and over can indulge in a holiday mimosa with brunch. Pictures and horse rides are available at an extra cost, but all other activities are included in the price. Merry, merry!
